LIMA, OH — The Lima Locos evened up their weekend series against the Flag City Sluggers on Saturday with a dominant 11–2 win at Simmons Field.
Flag City struck first in the top of the second as Trey Gardner launched a two-run homer into the right-field bullpen, giving the Sluggers an early lead.
But Lima quickly answered. In the bottom half, Evan Holstein ripped a triple down the right-field line and scored on a groundout by David Falloon to make it 2–1.
Moments later, a throwing error on Will Briggs’ infield chopper allowed Luke Mottola to cross the plate and tie the game.
The momentum fully shifted in the sixth inning. With the game still knotted at 2, Anthony Lariz came out of the bullpen for the Locos. The lefty escaped a bases-loaded, one-out jam with back-to-back strikeouts—preserving the tie.
Lima capitalized in a big way, exploding for six runs in the bottom of the sixth to blow the game wide open.
Final score: Locos 11, Sluggers 2. The series is now tied heading into the finale.
