After both teams split the first two games, Flag City jumped out early in the series finale. In the first inning, Trey Gardner singled to left to drive in two more runs as the Sluggers took a commanding 4–0 lead.

Starting pitcher Braxton Betancourt kept the Locos quiet early, tallying five strikeouts through the first few innings.

In the fourth, David Falloon grounded one back to the mound to bring in Charlie Vercruysse, trimming the deficit to 4–2.

From there, the Locos chipped away and eventually tied the game before the ninth inning brought the defining moment.
