LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Shawnee junior Trevick Bertke turned defense into highlight-reel offense Friday night, earning K&M Contracting Play of the Week honors after a standout performance against Defiance.

Bertke intercepted a pass and finished the play with a two-handed dunk, showcasing his athleticism and igniting the Shawnee crowd. The play was one of several key moments for Bertke, who led the Indians with 20 points in the game.

The performance also marked a milestone for the junior, as Bertke scored his 1,000th career point during the contest.

Shawnee held off Defiance for a 55-47 victory, improving its position as the high school boys basketball season moved through its ninth week.

Bertke’s defensive awareness and explosive finish helped secure the win and capped a week filled with notable performances across the area, earning him this week’s K&M Contracting Play of the Week recognition.
