SPENCERVILLE, Ohio (WLIO) — Spencerville continued its recent dominance over Allen East, earning a 59-33 win and extending the Mustangs’ losing streak in the series to eight straight games.

The Bearcats wasted no time setting the tone. After coming up with a steal in the opening quarter, senior Owen Sensabaugh finished through contact for the bucket and converted the free throw in his first game back since mid-January. Moments later, Sensabaugh picked off another pass and calmly laid it in to help Spencerville build a 10-point lead by the end of the first quarter.

The Bearcats carried that momentum into the second. Jude Stemen joined the defensive effort with a steal of his own, racing the other way and finishing at the rim for two of his 11 points on the night.

Allen East looked to respond before the half, as Ethan Hershberger knocked down a three-pointer from the corner to try and slow the momentum.

But Spencerville stayed in control behind Sensabaugh, who scored 12 points in his return to the lineup. The Bearcats kept their foot on the gas in the second half and never let the Mustangs climb back into contention.

With the win, Spencerville improves its standing in the Northwest Conference race, while Allen East will look to regroup as postseason play approaches.
