DELPHOS, Ohio (WLIO) — Two state-ranked programs squared off as Division VI No. 4 Lincolnview looked to knock off Division VII No. 1 Delphos St. John’s. The Blue Jays entered the matchup having won eight of the last 10 meetings between the two schools.
Lincolnview struck first in the opening minutes. Senior Gavin Evans forced his way inside for an early basket, part of a team-high 17-point performance for the Lancers.
St. John’s answered on the other end as Andrew Elwer used an upfake to freeze one defender before finishing through traffic to give the Blue Jays a two-point edge. Moments later, newly crowned Allen County all-time leading scorer Cameron Elwer buried a three-pointer, setting the tone for the rest of the night.
The Furman commit stayed hot, splashing home another triple on the next possession as he poured in a game-high 29 points. Lincolnview continued to battle, with junior Max Hammons knocking down a contested shot to keep the Lancers within striking distance.
But St. John’s maintained control throughout the contest. Andrew Elwer added an and-one basket as part of a 20-point night, helping the Blue Jays pull away down the stretch.
St. John’s secured the statement win with an 89-58 victory over Lincolnview.
