NEW BREMEN — The state’s top-ranked team in Division VI continued its dominance Thursday night, as New Bremen swept Delphos St. John’s in straight sets in a Midwest Athletic Conference showdown.
Delphos St. John’s entered riding momentum after winning its last six sets, but the Blue Jays have not beaten New Bremen since 2010 — and that streak held.
In the opening set, Ella Martz delivered an ace to trim the Cardinals’ lead to eight, but New Bremen closed out the frame 25-17. The second set saw the teams tied early at 2-2 before Madilyn Conley briefly pushed St. John’s in front. Moments later, Julia Tangeman answered with a kill to level the score, and Maria Kramer capitalized off a high feed from Allie Bornhorst as New Bremen pulled away.
The Cardinals finished the match with commanding scores of 25-17, 25-14, and 25-12, extending their perfect run in MAC play.
