ADA, Ohio (WLIO) — Van Buren continued its momentum in the Blanchard Valley Conference with a 41-35 road win over Ada on Tuesday night.
The Black Knights, who entered the game riding a two-game winning streak, struck first when junior Lilli Wilson connected on a catch-and-shoot 3-pointer off the inbounds pass to open the scoring.
Ada responded later in the first quarter as Tea Griffith found senior Anna Conley underneath for a layup, pulling the Bulldogs within one.
Van Buren held a slim advantage in the second quarter behind Brooklyn Wilkin, who created space off the dribble and knocked down a midrange jumper to give the Black Knights an 11-9 lead.
Ada answered with Griffith scoring through tight defense just outside the paint.
Griffith finished with a game-high 13 points.
Wilkin responded on the other end, converting a shot in traffic to help Van Buren maintain control.
The junior led the Black Knights with 11 points.
Van Buren held off a late push from Ada to secure the 41-35 victory, improving its record while extending its winning streak.
