SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP, OH (WLIO) - For some grieving the loss of a loved one, the holidays can be the most difficult time of the year.
For the 33rd year, Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services opened their doors to anyone and everyone who has lost someone to their Tree of Remembrance service. Five candles were lit in honor of the survivors, each carrying a different meaning like love or courage.
The holiday season brings back memories of those who are no longer with us, so the funeral home wanted to give the community a positive place to express and work through their grief.
"We have two ministers, both a priest and a protestant minister, and they both have parts of the service. We get so many positive comments, and they really feel, I think, rejuvenated and have a real hope when they leave this service," said Bob Laman, the president of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services.
Many who attended had custom engraved Christmas tree ornaments made in honor of their late loved ones, which they could hang either at home or on the Tree of Remembrance at Chiles-Laman.
