WAPAKONETA, Ohio (WLIO) –At the Wapakoneta Library, kids had the chance to create art and enjoy snacks, all while staying engaged with reading this summer.

The library hosted its “Sketches and Snacks” program today for children and their families. Participants followed a guided video to create two different drawings, with plenty of room for creativity. Snacks were provided by St. Paul’s Church through its summer food program.

“Everybody ends up with something a little bit different,” said Stephanie Lietz, youth services assistant at the Wapakoneta Library. “Usually, the kids are awesome and like to draw their own additions to it. Like today, one of the kids drew a werewolf reading a book instead of a little girl or a little boy. I love all the additions that they add. And our snacks are provided by UCC Church across the street, so that’s super awesome that they get to have something to eat before they walk out as well.”

The library is keeping the fun going all summer long.

Up next, kids can try to “Catch an Art Thief” at an interactive art show on July 1.

On July 9, live animals from Indiana WILD will visit the library for a special exhibit.
