University of Findlay students will learn from professionals in various fields how to be more aware of patients who may be in bad situations and how to recognize and report information properly. UF and the Soroptimist Club are sponsoring the Human Trafficking Awareness event Saturday, Jan. 13 at the Winebrenner Theological Seminary. The community is welcome to attend. Doors open at 8 a.m. and the event runs from 8:30 to noon.
March 13, 2024 Press Release from Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost: (CLEVELAND) — A suspected human trafficker accused of advertising sex in a dozen states is facing 17 felony charges following an investigation by the Northeast Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force. A Cuyahoga County grand jury recently indicted 31-year-old Deondre Inkton, of Cleveland, on charges of trafficking in persons, compelling prostitution, promoting prostitution, money laundering and possessing criminal tools. The indictment accuses Inkton of trafficking eight women, but authorities believe there may be additional survivors who have not yet come forward. Those individuals are asked to contact the task force at (216) 443-6085.
January 21, 2025, Press Release from the Ohio Department of Public Safety: (COLUMBUS, Ohio) – During today’s annual meeting of the Governor’s Human Trafficking Task Force, the Ohio Department of Public Safety announced the launch of a new human trafficking dashboard that combines data from several state agencies into a centralized location to increase accessibility for the public, policy makers, and researchers. The announcement comes during National Human Trafficking Prevention Month.
