2018 Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce Emerging Business Award nominees

Until you take a chance in life, you never know how you are going to succeed. These three nominees for the Emerging Business Award are doing just that.

Some people will say that they will go to the ends of the Earth for a good cup of coffee, well David Tilton did just that. While doing mission work in El Salvador and Bolivia, he visited coffee plantations and saw the roasting process first hand. Bringing that knowledge back to the area, he opened up Coffe Amor in 2013. With the love of coffee and a passion for people, Coffe Amor cares about the quality of their product that goes into every cup, by adopting the business model of  "Roasted to Order", meaning that the coffee that you get there was just roast one to three days before you are drinking it. The business continues to see growth with two location to serve their customers.

Simply Torn is helping local residents step out in style. Jamie Burger started her apparel and accessory boutique in 2013, and within the first year, the business grew, moving from strictly online sales to a brick and mortar location in Ada and then outgrowing that location, she moved to Lima with a bigger store and more sales. This past fall she started carrying a line of clothing made by Ohio designers and then Burger became a designer herself by developing her own line of clothing sold at Simply Torn. Burger sets her business apart from others by helping customers be their best self.

In 2014, Dr. Ann Rea Miller decided to take a chance and start her own optometry practice after an opportunity came about and Visual Eyes was born. Its mission is to provide superior eye care to the area in a fun friendly environment. Over the last four years, Visual Eyes has introduced some innovative initiatives, like devices to detect previously unseen eye problems, to help patents during eye examinations, and to help patents get a better fit with their eyeglasses. Visual Eyes strives to be a place that you would want to refer to other for all of their eye care needs.

These are the three nominees for the Emerging Business Award.
