LIMA, OH (WLIO) - It may be July, but Operation Half Pint is spreading the Christmas spirit next weekend.
The 3rd annual Half Pint 5k race will be held next Saturday, July 27th, at the Pangle Pavilion in downtown Lima.Â

Operation Half Pint is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organized by workers at the JSMC Tank Plant that takes a half-scaled Abrams battle tank to local parades and veterans events for family fun.
The past two years have seen over 200 participants come out, and with the move to downtown Lima, Operation Half Pint hopes to see even more folks come out to support a jolly good cause.

"It's really important for us. One, just because a lot of that money, like I said, is going back to veterans, but more importantly, us moving downtown, we just want to support downtown Lima, and I think it's a great opportunity. So we're excited this year; the first 200 registrants, they get a free customized tank medal, and then we're actually switching it up again this year, and we are doing a free cookie sponsored by Sara's Sweets," said Melissa Amstutz, Half Pint 5K race director.
Following the 5K race, there will be food trucks in the Central District parking lot along with live music at the amphitheater from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and prizes will be handed out for top finishers and for the best Christmas spirit outfits.
The Half Pint 5k will begin at 9 a.m. at the Pangle Pavilion, located at 128 E Spring St, Lima, OH 45801. It's $30 to register, and you can sign up online at https://runsignup.com/Race/OH/Lima/OperationHalfPint5k. Finishers will also get to run through snow at the finish line.
