COLUMBUS, OHIO (WLIO) - A Lima man has been identified as the inmate responsible for the death of an Ohio corrections officer on Christmas Day.
Cannon was sentenced in Allen County Common Pleas Court in 2023 to 8 years in prison for felonious assault and having a weapon under disability.
27-year-old Rashawn Cannon was identified as the person who killed Officer Andrew Lansing during an alleged attack at the Ross Correctional Institute on Wednesday morning. Cannon struck a woman in the face with a gun following an argument she had with another man. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating Lansing’s death. Cannon has been moved to the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility.
