A toast to Lima and its people

For nearly 40 years, the City of Lima has raised their glasses to honor their past and to celebrate their future, with the Toast to the City.

Mayor David Berger delivered this year's toast, recognizing the hard working people that make Lima, Ohio and the nation great. This annual tradition has always had the good food and beverages, but this year, organizers added live music and dancing to the event. The change in the downtown party was fitting because the downtown itself is seeing change on a daily basis.

“Toast to the City is actually a celebration of the city, we have new commerce downtown, new restaurants, new boutiques, all kinds of new businesses. So it’s a celebration of what is downtown trying to bring back yesteryear, with the dance halls that were really prominent in the city parks in Lima,” said Tami Trenkamp, Square Fair Inc.

Trenkamp says the toast is a fundraiser for Square Fair, which they are hoping to bring back in a couple of years, once the Rhodes State downtown project is complete.
