For the second year in a row, Lima will play host to Youth Track Championships.
The Lima-Allen County Convention and Visitors Bureau, with the Lima Striders Track Club, announced the return of the AAU Region Four Track and Field Championships. The event is set for July 29, 2017 through August 3, 2017. Twelve-hundred athletes are estimated to attend. With them and their families in town, the Lima-Allen County Convention and Visitors Bureau anticipates the potential of a significant economic impact on the City of Lima.
"With that they have a lot of hotel rooms being used, restaurants, retail, usually somebody forgets something and they have to go pick something up, so those are the things that are figured in, gas of course, and that makes the impact of about $1,848,000," said Sharree Brenneman-Reehling.
The championships will take place at Lima Stadium. This is the third time overall that Lima has hosted the event.
