LIMA, OH (WLIO) - An Ada man has been arrested in Indiana for allegedly trying to meet children for sexual exploitation.
64-year-old Dennis James Roth was arrested in Marion, Indiana, after going to what he believed was a pre-arranged meeting with children under the age of 14 years old, but it was an investigation by the group "Predator Catchers Incorporated."
Indiana law enforcement charged Roth with seven counts, including conspiracy to commit child sex trafficking, attempted child molesting, and child solicitation. This is an ongoing investigation by law enforcement in Indiana and Ohio. Roth is being held in the Grant County Indiana Jail, with a bond set at $50,000.
April 1, 2024 Press Release from Grant County Sheriff's Office: On Saturday, March 30, the Grant County Sheriff's Office responded to a call from Predator Catchers Incorporated (PCI) in reference to a Dennis James Roth, 64, from Ada, Ohio, who travelled to Marion from Ohio in what he believed was prearranged meeting to pick up children under the age 14 for sexual exploitation.
Mr. Roth has been charged with the following crimes.
Count 1: Conspiracy to commit promotion of child sexual trafficking, a level 3 felony.
Count 2: Conspiracy to commit promotion of child sex trafficking, a level 3 felony.
Count 3: Conspiracy to commit promotion of child sex trafficking, a level 3 felony.
Count 4: Attempted child molesting, a level 3 felony.
Count 5: Attempted child molesting, a level 3 felony.
Count 6: Attempted child molesting, a level 3 felony.
Count 7: Child solicitation, a level 4 felony.
Count 8: Child solicitation, a level 4 felony.
Count 9: Child solicitation, a level 4 felony.
Dennis Roth is on a $50,000.00 cash bond only in the Grant County Jail.
The arrest stems from a PCI investigation started earlier this month and occurred in the 4800 block of South Western Avenue where a meeting was preplanned. This is an ongoing investigation involving police agencies in Ohio and the Grant County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff Garcia has stated prior that crimes against children are a priority of his administration, and his office will strive to investigate all crimes of harming children.
This investigation was initiated by Uniformed Patrol Deputy working IWU Police, GCSO Shift Supervisor,
and later assisted by Detectives, GCSO Criminal Investigation Division.
