LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - AEP hosted an open house to talk about planned power grid upgrades in Allen County.

AEP is planning improvements to the electric system in Allen County to help meet the increase of power needs in the area. The current project AEP is proposing is called the "LYKA" transmission project, which includes building an electric facility on customer-owned property as well as about 4 miles of a power line to connect the facility to an existing transmission line. This will be taking place in Sugar Creek township. The purpose of the open house was to hear community feedback and hear any alternative routes the company could take for the best outcome.

"We want to get as much information as possible so that we can make the most informed decisions. So, any future development plans for the property, anything like what they have going on with it, farming practices, anything that could help us narrow down that line route, because we have a lot of different study segments that we're evaluating," says Brian Recker, outreach specialist for AEP Ohio.
