Allen County Board of Elections recommends absentee ballots turned in ASAP

As Election Day draws closer, the Allen County Board of Elections recommends that you send in your absentee ballot soon.

The Board of Elections is encouraging people to start mailing in their absentee ballots October 31st in order for the ballot to reach the office in time. The ballot must be postmarked by Monday, November 6th in order for the votes to count. If mailing the ballot isn't possible, there are other options to make sure that your ballot will make it in time.

"They can drop it off here even if it was mailed to them, they can drop it off here - if you want your vote to count, it has to get to our office, that’s the main thing, it cannot be taken back to the polling location," said Kathy Meyers, director of the Allen County Board of Elections.

Ballots that are hand-delivered must be turned in by the close of polls on Tuesday, November 7th.
