ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - Allen County Children Services is going online to share information about being a foster parent. Next Wednesday night, between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., they'll be holding their first "virtual recruitment event."
Allen County currently has around thirty foster homes, and a lot of them are at the point where they don't have room for any more kids. Allen County Children Services says there are qualifications that families will have to meet. They're looking for adults who are open, patient, and just willing to share their home and heart with a local child.
They've held recruiting events in the past, but they wanted to try an online option to reach more families.
"So, we have had multiple opportunities to get together face-to-face with families in the community to recruit for foster homes, and we said, let's try something virtual. Sometimes families can't get out and go someplace. So we wanted to try where they can be at home, or maybe they can be at work and sit at their desk, and they can talk to us about what it is like to be a foster parent," says Ann Jenkins, Special Services Supervisor for Allen County Children Services.
If you want to sign up, there will be a link to the Teams meeting on the Allen County Children Services Facebook page and on their website at http://allencsb.com/. Just click on it to join at 5:30 p.m. on May 29th.
