ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - Members of the Allen County Democratic Party and the UAW Local 1219 spoke out against Republican Senate candidate Bernie Moreno.
Lima Councilwoman Carla Thompson, local UAW president Jeff Adams, and retired teacher Pat Joseph Johnson all spoke on what they are calling Moreno's record of lying. They say that he didn't tell the truth when he was telling his business origin story of doing it all on his own when the Democrats say that he got an insider deal for his first car dealership. Plus, they say he lied when he said that he refused to sell a Chinese-made car, the Buick Envision.
"I always ask where was Bernie Moreno when the auto workers stand-up strike of 2023 was. I never heard him say or do any press conferences. Sherrod Brown was on the strike line walking with us," says Jeff Adams, Pres., UAW Local 1219.
"If you are considering looking at Bernie Moreno as your candidate, also do the research. Look at his stories and see if his stories are true. Because what we have found it that they are not, and I don't think we can afford somebody else in office that is not telling us the truth," says Carla Thompson, Lima's 3rd ward councilor.
We reached out to the Bernie Moreno campaign for a response, and they said quote: "Sherrod Brown and his allies are stooping to the politics of personal destruction because they know they can't defend Sherrod's extreme leftwing voting record. Sherrod votes with Joe Biden nearly 100% of the time and has repeatedly supported mass amnesty for illegals and Biden's radical anti-American energy agenda. The last thing he wants is a policy debate, because he knows Ohioans will reject his pro-Biden leftwing record."
