On Jan. 27 the Allen County Historical Society hosted its 111th annual membership meeting with a special guest from Fort Loramie.
Over 35 people showed up for the historical society's meeting in which they discussed the newly elected board members, introduced the new museum director and listened to discussion about Fort Loramie from retired social studies teacher, Kenneth Sowards.
During his presentation, Sowards provided information about the Loramie site on the Fleckenstein farm and how he located the site of the trading post that dates back to the pre-revolutionary war. Overall organizers say meetings like these are important because it highlights the great work done by historians across the greater Lima region.
“It’s important because it’s a way for us to kind of go over our accomplishments for the year, share with the members and the public those who are going to remain on the board and still participate with us,” said Amy Craft, Allen County Museum and Historical Society executive director. “They are of course our leaders and the people who guide the museum as we move forward.
The next Allen County historical society meeting will take place sometime in January of 2020.
