ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - It's part of the toolbox for economic development in the region that could get an additional half a million dollars of funding for projects that qualify.
Allen County has a Transportation Improvement District (TID) that was formed to work with the Ohio Department of Transportation to fund transportation needs that will spur economic development through job creation and retention. As funding is always an issue, TID dollars from the state are a great opportunity that the program provides.
"It is the Allen County Transportation Improvement District, so it's all transportation-related. We can apply for funding up to $500,000 for jobs that have some portion of economic development. Whether it be job creation, job retention, or some private investment, private sector investment in infrastructure," explained Brion Rhodes, Allen County Engineer.
Rhodes says there are a couple of projects in the pipeline that include a portion of Lincoln Highway and a possible project with Procter & Gamble on Thayer Road.
