August 8, 2024, Press Release from the Lima/Allen County Regional Planning Commission: LIMA—In an effort to bring awareness and advocacy for driving sober, the Allen County Safe Community Coalition is hosting a time for area residents, first-responders and local officials to join in partnership as they kick off the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign in Allen County, which correlates with the national campaign.

On Friday, Aug. 9 at 8:00 a.m. at the A.C.C.E.S.S. Center – 528 W. Market St., Allen County Probate and Juvenile Court Judge Todd E. Kohlrieser will address the public by discussing the importance of being sober behind the wheel; how alcohol, street drugs, and even prescription drugs can cause impaired driving; the amount it takes for someone to be considered over the limit to operate a vehicle; and the lasting consequences that can come from making poor choices when operating a vehicle under the influence.

Light refreshments donated by Sara’s Sweets will be served at 8 a.m. with Judge Kohlrieser’s presentation to begin at 8:15 a.m. Concluding the event will be a distracted driving simulation demonstrated by local teenagers and an optional tour of the facility.

The A.C.C.E.S.S. Center is a newly remodeled community resource for youth, families, schools and other agencies. It houses the Allen County Probate and Juvenile Court’s Community Control Department with space available to work collaboratively with various community agencies to offer services that help address behavioral health, substance use, suicidal ideation, family discord, and other crisis concerns.
