ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - Local law enforcement is having good conversations over a cup of coffee.

Today is "National Coffee with a Cop Day," and the Allen County Sheriff's Office picked up the tab for a free cup of coffee or tea at the Cable Road Biggby.

Today is "National Coffee with a Cop Day," and the Allen County Sheriff's Office picked up the tab for a free cup of coffee or tea at the Cable Road Biggby this morning. It's the ninth year for the national event that aims to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the public. Many deputies and officers were on hand having a positive interaction over a cup of coffee.

It's the ninth year for the national event that aims to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the public.

"And sit and talk with them while they are here drinking it and get their concerns voiced to us and any problems they may have. Hang out, talk to us, and meet us for the first time. Meet us in an environment where everything is simple and everything is easy, and there is no real reason to have a call at a place to finally meet them for the first time," says Sheriff Matt Treglia, Allen County.

"I think it is good to get out in the community and meet some of the people, for us, that we don't always see out here that is kind of at the edge of our jurisdiction. But it brings people together; you get to meet some of us, and I think it is good for everybody," says Chief Michael Haines, American Township.

Many deputies and officers were on hand having a positive interaction over a cup of coffee.

Members of the Allen County SWAT Team and Elida Police Chief Dale Metzger were also on hand to talk to members of the public during the event.
