October 28, 2024, Press Release from the Allen County Museum: Mark your calendars for the holiday event you cannot miss! The Allen County Museum, Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District, and the Allen County Master Gardener Volunteers are holding the 52nd Annual Christmas Tree Festival from Wednesday, December 4, to Sunday, December 8,2024.
Over 100 individuals, organizations, and community groups’ trees will be decorated to the nines for all to enjoy. The community can plan to participate in the traditions that have come to be part of the event, including Evergreen, The Talking Tree; the woodcarvers and rug hookers; fingerprint plaques; and The Little Children's Shoppe. Visitors can also look for the photo wreath display to continue their tradition or participate in a new tradition by taking a photo with Santa. Student artwork from Lima City Elementary Schools will be exhibited in the museum's auditorium for everyone's enjoyment! Also, in the auditorium, the live entertainment will get us all into the holiday spirit. Enjoy some crafts and activities in the Children’s Discovery Center while learning more about Christmas in Mexico.
As in years past, the MacDonell House will be decorated for everyone’s enjoyment, with free admission throughout the festival. Donations are always welcome! The Log House will again highlight hearthside cooking presented by Mark Mohr and other re-enactors, along with Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) volunteers.
