Allen County Public Health holding clinic for students needing meningitis vaccine

It only takes a few minutes, it could save your child's life and it's the law.

Starting this year, 7th and 12th grade students are required to get vaccinated for meningococcal meningitis. Governor Kasich signed the requirement into law last July. The legislation was sponsored by State Senator Cliff Hite from Findlay after his niece died within hours of showing symptoms. If a person does survive there is a significant chance of having permanent disabilities. Getting the vaccine will boost the child's protection from the deadly disease.

To help parents get their children vaccinated, Allen County Public Health is holding a special clinic for students needing the vaccine on Wednesday, August 31st from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at their offices.
