Allen County Sheriff Matt Treglia stated the importance of how officer Dominic Francis was involved in his community.
The sheriff says that this type of commitment from Francis is a shining example of what the badge shows, and how others should follow his example.
His actions show how much change that one single dedicated officer can bring to an entire community. Treglia says that seeing the impact that Officer Francis has left is apparent when you walk the streets of Bluffton and interact with its citizens.
"You've all heard all the stories once again about coaching and everything like that, the impact that an officer has like this in the community is great," said Sheriff Treglia. "He has been here a lot of years and probably could have gone to larger departments, larger offices, and continued to work there. However, he chose to stay here in a small community, he chose to work with kids, and he chose to protect this community, and that says a lot."
The Allen County Sheriff's Office also took the day to cover the village of Bluffton police department's patrols.
