LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Allen Lima Leadership (ALL) adult and youth 2026 classes met Friday for team building and leadership development.
The combined session focused on diversity and leadership skills for both groups.
The combined session focused on diversity and leadership skills for both groups.
Guest speaker Toni Bell, of Phoenix Consulting, led the group through exercises showing how differences in background, experience and perspective can influence decision-making.
One activity had participants line up based on shared and differing life experiences to show the range of perspectives within the room.
Both the youth and adults said they found common ground through the exercises.
“Our generations are more in touch and more connected to one another than they have been in the past. The young people are just as happy to talk and take advice, and the older set is just as happy to take advice and talk as well,” Bell said.
Students said the program is helping them build skills they’ll use beyond high school.
“It’s taught me a lot about leadership, and I’ve gotten to make a lot of new friends and really talk to new people that I wouldn’t have before, and that’s really nice,” said Izzy Recker, a sophomore at Bluffton High School.
“In the real world, you’re gonna have jobs, you’re gonna work for a company, and you’re gonna have to learn how to deal with people, if you like them or not,” said Clark Keehn, a junior at Columbus Grove High School. “You’re gonna have to learn how to deal with them and work together and learn to do stuff as a team.”
