LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – The Allen County Educational Service Center is continuing its partnership with the Hub at Central District, giving local students access to hands-on learning experiences.
The facility allows schools in Allen County to have their students participate in classes at the MakerSpace, a program that provides tools and space for carpentry, metal work, artistry, and other skill-building activities that individual school districts may not offer.

Craig Kupferberg, superintendent of the Educational Service Center, said the shared resources make the program cost-effective for both schools and taxpayers.
“When things get very expensive, if instead of buying one for each school, we can get the equipment, the people—whoever it is—in one location and be able to share it amongst the schools, it makes it much more cost effective, and not only for the schools, but for the taxpayers of Allen County as well,” Kupferberg said.
The Educational Service Center serves nine school districts in Allen County.
