Charity Car Show donates to charities at annual luncheon

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - The Charity Car Show donated the funds raised at its annual car show to local charities at its annual luncheon. 

The car show hosted on June 28 was dedicated to raising money for charities in the area.

Officials with the car show hosted a luncheon at Westgate Entertainment Center to present the donations to the charities, which included Warrior's Way, Love Luggage, Youth Connect for Mental Health and other organizations. 

Charity Car Show board members said the organizations they partner with help them reach out to community members in need. 

"We are concerned with (people) in the community: our veterans, our children, those with mental health issues, teenagers," said Melissa Waller, Charity Car Show board treasurer.

Waller said the car show board focused on organizations dedicated to mental health, and that they hope to spread the message that "everyone is enough." 

"Too many people have mental health issues that aren't addressed, and with COVID-19, we're just now seeing some of the effects that it's had on the students," Waller added.

"If we can save just one teenager, just one. I have two teenage grandchildren, and you just never know."

The car show was the 20th hosted by the organization, and raised approximately $6,000 for mental health organizations and charities.
