LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - The Allen County Museum gave guests a chance to travel back in time with a 1930s Silver Screen Gala, offering an immersive evening that paid tribute to the iconic films, fashion, and flair of 1930s Hollywood.
The museum rolled out the red carpet for attendees, who were encouraged to dress in vintage-inspired clothing. Dinner and drinks were served as music and movies from the era played in the background, creating an authentic atmosphere. Organizers say the event is a vital fundraiser that helps support the museum’s mission to educate the public about local history.
“This is going to be our major fundraiser every year, called The Discovery Decades. It is meant to raise funds for us to do our programming, both educational and through collections and exhibits and preservation, and all of that. So it's just one of those things that help us throughout the year, do the things that we can do for the community,” said Christine Fowler Shearer, director with the Allen County Museum.
The experience continues with “Life in America,” where families can participate in hands-on activities featuring food, games, and pastimes from the 1930s. That event runs Friday and Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the museum.
