LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Indian Lake lost a beloved landmark back in March of 2024. The Our Lady of Fatima Shrine was lost to the tornado that hit the Indian Lake region after nearly 60 years since it was built. The American Society of Ephesus, in cooperation with Artspace/Lima announced winners in the over 18 category of the design competition for the new shrine. They had many age categories for the competition so artists of all ages could participate. It was implemented so the community could give their input on what they would like to see in the new shrine.

"We were really impressed by the designs that we received. There were some similarities. There were people and teams that implemented rosary walks that we saw a few times. A lot of landscape elements that we hadn't considered. A lot of people put some symbolism so they did some research on our lady of Fatima. They took a look at things that were happening and built initially and implemented them now. It's been exciting to see how they've all put their own spin on an age-old design and how it's going to be implemented," said Vanessa Damschroder, co-vice president of the American Society of Ephesus.

The winners of the Over 18 category were:

  • Robert Patricy
  • The Faith in Action Team
  • Matt Bansman

Their hope is to have an unveiling of the statue in August of 2026.
