LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – People across the area found resources to help improve their mind, body and spirit at the 11th annual Bridging the Gap Health and Wellness Expo.

Bridging the Gap Expo connects community to vital wellness resources

Attendees had the opportunity to connect with various community agencies, businesses and programs offering services designed to support both children and adults. The event featured demonstrations from Soldiers of Honor and Bradfield Center fitness programs, and guests had the chance to win a variety of door prizes. The mission of Bridging the Gap is to support underserved community members by improving their access to health care and essential services.

“We've got a small committee that meets frequently for several months to put this together, and then we try to do what's best for those who may not know what community resources are, or if they don't have access to care, we want them here so that they can get the information they need," said Cheryl Nagy, Bridging the Gap Committee.

“It's essential for us to bring these services to the community, not everybody has access to cell phones or the internet, and it's hard for everybody to know the things that are available to them without those resources, so this is essential for them to be able to connect with different people that can help them,” said Kathleen Chisholm, director of oncology services at Lima Memorial Health System.

To further support community well-being, the West Ohio Food Bank hosted a food distribution as part of the event.
