LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Business leaders gathered to discuss the importance of prioritizing employees' emotional wellness during the West Central Ohio Safety Council’s monthly meeting.

Kevin Rigg of ProMedica highlighted how an employee’s stress, personal struggles, and other mental distractions can impact job performance. When employees are not focused, it can lead to safety concerns and decreased productivity. Additionally, stress or depression can contribute to increased absenteeism.

Rigg emphasized the role of managers in recognizing behavioral changes in employees and guiding them to resources such as ProMedica’s Employee Assistance Program.

“We are that resource for managers, for supervisors, to where they don't have to know all the answers, or be able to actually have to help people with the issues, but at least be able to, as leaders, know where to steer them and where to direct them, or at least resources in the community that they can have them attend,” said Kevin Rigg, manager of ProMedica’s Employee Assistance Program.
