LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Center for Peace and Reconciliation will host a special cultural presentation this Saturday focused on Native American traditions and heritage.
As part of the organization’s mission to introduce people to different cultures, the event will feature Native American storytelling, drum dancing and flute playing. Organizers say the afternoon will center around a drum circle and provide attendees with an opportunity to learn more about America’s Indigenous peoples.
“Their customs, their culture, is something that we need to understand their journey, because it’s been a journey of trials and tribulations,” said John Foster. “There’s been a lot of hurts experienced in their journey.”
The program, titled “Plant the Seed of the Native Ways,” will take place Saturday, May 16, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Trinity Park in the 300 block of West Market Street.
The event is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs.
