ELIDA, Ohio (WLIO) - Elida's National Honor Society hosted their annual Laps for Life, promoting a healthy activity to raise funds.

To raise money for the American Cancer Society, Elida’s NHS annually hosts a "laps for life" event, where each lap walked earns a participant a ticket. Attendees could choose which raffle their ticket went into, and prizes included baskets, a mini fridge for future college students, and a flat screen TV. Students and local organizations hosted booths during the event, each having an activity for families to enjoy.

"It's just something really easy that people can do, and you don't really, have to spend too much money on it, and it can just bring awareness to the topic instead of spending a fortune," says Emma Stauffer, NHS President at Elida High School.

With the theme being "Walk for a Cure", attendees put their steps in to raise funds and awareness for cancer. Organizers remind the community to stop by next year as this event plans to take place.
