LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The final “Cool Car Cruise-In” of the season wrapped up Wednesday evening in Lima.

Every Wednesday from May through September, attendees were invited to bring their classic and custom cars to raise money for a good cause. Each week, organizers sold 50/50 raffle tickets and let attendees vote on which charities should benefit. This year, the group donated $3,500 each to the Veterans Food Pantry of Lima and the “Supporting Our Soldiers” project. For the past three years, Happy Daz has matched the group’s donations.

“We’ve always thought of this cruise-in as somewhat of a family. I mean, most everybody here knows everybody,” said co-organizer Chris Schimpf. “It’s about the people, not so much the cars. The cars are cool — they’re more of a secondary thing, but it’s more about the people.”

“It’s always about the people,” added co-organizer Brian Montgomery.

The cruise-ins will return in May of next year.
