LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Students in Lima City Schools are learning leadership skills in a fun and engaging way through a partnership with the Lima Kiwanis Club.
Members have supported organizations such as Samaritan House, Our Daily Bread, the Humane Society, and several others.
The K-Kids program, designed for elementary-age students, teaches the importance of making a difference through positive actions. Members have supported organizations such as Samaritan House, Our Daily Bread, the Humane Society, and several others. Current K-Kids members encourage their peers to get involved.
“Try to join K-Kids. It’s really fun. You could do a lot of activities and everything,” said K-Kids member Brailyn Cunningham.
Crystal Miller, K-Kids adviser at Heritage Elementary, praised the students’ growth in the program. “It’s really cool to watch them. When they first come in, they don’t really know what it’s all about. And then they start to take ownership. With some of the different projects that we’re doing, they find things that they’re passionate about,” she said.
The students wrapped up a week-long celebration with “I Love Kiwanis” Day, fittingly held on Valentine’s Day.
