LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – Lima residents were able to get some help putting food on the table Monday afternoon.

Each holiday, the Restoration House of Lima hosts a food giveaway, handing out a variety of items, including fruits, vegetables and baked goods. The Restoration House helps people in the addiction recovery process get back on their feet by providing housing and sober living options. They accept food donations from local Walmart locations, Sam’s Club and the West Ohio Food Bank to help stock their houses. On holidays like today, they distribute excess donations to people in need.

Labor Day food give-away

“You know, at one time, I was a client with the Restoration House, and my life has turned around so much because of them and the help of, you know, other organizations within the area,” said Anthony Lowry, case manager at the Restoration House of Lima. “So this is going to be something that is definitely needed in our community. Make sure everybody's nourished. Everybody needs food. And you know, there's so many things going on in our world today. We want to make a positive impact. And if we can do one thing better today than what we did yesterday, I think we've made progress.”

The next giveaway will take place on Thanksgiving. The location will be announced closer to the date. If you’re interested in donating or volunteering, you can stop by their office at 705 W. Spring St. in Lima or call (419) 773-0586.
