LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – Some Lima City School students received a special treat Friday for all their hard work.

For some of the Liberty Elementary third graders, it was their first taste of tea — thanks to “Alice in Wonderland.” The class recently finished a reading unit on the classic story, and their teacher decided to celebrate with a tea party.

Arianna Sturgeon, a Liberty third grader, said, "It’s just fun, and we’ve been learning a lot, and we put our hard work into everything. So I think we deserve it.”

For some of the Liberty Elementary third graders, it was their first taste of tea thanks to “Alice in Wonderland.”

Jakeene Beger, also a Liberty third grader, said, "I like the tea party, and I like learning how to read and reading this story, and I like it.”

Ashley Klingler, the third grade teacher, said, "It’s to wrap it up and just to celebrate the hard work they’ve put into it. A lot of times, it’s pretty challenging the things that we do, and it usually just kind of cements what we’ve done, and it’s a fun way to wrap up the hard work that we’ve done.”

Their next reading unit will cover animal classification, and Klingler said the class will do something special once that unit is completed as well.
