LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - The Lima City Schools community came together Tuesday evening to celebrate Public Schools Week.
This year’s event incorporated an Easter theme, including egg hunts and a visit from the Easter Bunny.
Inside Lima Senior, this year’s districtwide open house featured new festivities. The evening began with a community pep rally, where Lima Mayor Sharetta Smith presented a proclamation extending the city's support for public education. This year’s event incorporated an Easter theme, including egg hunts and a visit from the Easter Bunny. The celebration also featured student musical performances, art displays, and a meal prepared by the Spartan Inn. With public education a major topic of discussion, Lima City Schools Superintendent Jill Ackerman emphasized the importance of highlighting the programs public education offers.
“We need to celebrate what we have. These programs are built by our community. It's our community that supports our schools. These are our community schools, and we need to celebrate them, and we need to also show our taxpayers and our public everything that we have to offer here,” says Jill Ackerman, superintendent of Lima City Schools.
The celebration also featured student musical performances, art displays, and a meal prepared by the Spartan Inn.
Recognizing Public Schools Week has been a district tradition for several years.
