In recent years, the percentage of women in the construction industry has risen from just over 10% to 14% of the workforce, according to the National Association of Women in Construction. The organization emphasizes the importance of recognizing these women for their contributions to the field.

One in six adults in Allen County reads at a 3rd grade level or lower, and these numbers haven't really changed in years. The Northwest Ohio Literacy Council and Lima City Schools want to change that statistic. This week is Adult Education and Family Literacy Week. Lima Mayor Sharetta Smith presented them with a proclamation encouraging individuals struggling with basic academic skills to take advantage of the services offered by these two programs. Reading is something anyone can do, and we as a community need to de-stigmatize the issue of adult literacy.

The Learjet was unveiled to the community as part of the museum's 50th-anniversary ceremony. The jet once housed Neil Armstrong after his adventure on the moon and thus broke many records with it, such as total altitude in a horizontal flight. Museum officials say that the Learjet will not cost anything to view for Wapakoneta residents and beyond.
