LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – The pain can be so intense it can interfere with daily activities, and a local high school student is working to bring awareness to the impact of migraines.

Shawnee High School student Isabella Etzkorn has been living with migraines since she was 7 years old. As the reigning National American Miss Ohio Junior Teen, Etzkorn has been sharing her personal story about living with the debilitating condition, which affects more than 1 billion people worldwide.

June is recognized as Migraine Awareness Month, with this year’s theme focused on the message: "Migraines may be invisible, but the people living with them are not."

"You are not alone. Just allow people to really realize how much of a difference that it makes in your life, and tell them that just because you're not able to see it, it's truly still impacting, and realize that other people, they struggle more than you may think," Etzkorn said.
