LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Warmer temperatures and a taste of spring have many residents thinking about gardening, and the Lima Public Library is helping plant the seeds for a successful growing season.

Garden enthusiasts and beginner gardeners alike can take part in the library’s popular “Seed Library” program. Participants can stop by the “Ask Here” desk to request a list of available seeds and select the varieties they would like to grow. New this year, the library is offering grab bags of seeds that visitors can take home while supplies last.

Lima Public Library’s seed library returns as spring fever sets in

Library officials say the Seed Library has become one of the organization’s most popular programs. Liz Smith, public relations coordinator for the Lima Public Library, explained how the process works.

“When they come in, they can look through a catalog, pick out the ones they want, turn in a slip, and then we're asking for two business days to get that those orders put together, and then we'll contact you and you can come pick them up, because we this is one of our most popular programs, so just a little bit of patience,” Smith said.

Seeds are available during the library’s regular business hours while supplies last.
