LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — A tradition spanning more than a century continued at Lima Senior High School as 23 juniors were inducted into the school’s National Honor Society chapter.

The National Honor Society, which has more than 16,000 active chapters worldwide, recognizes students who excel in four key pillars: character, scholarship, leadership and service. At Lima Senior, students are selected by faculty based on those standards and must maintain at least a 3.3 grade point average to be considered.

During the induction ceremony, new members were recognized for their academic achievements and commitment to their school and community. Current members say the organization has provided meaningful opportunities to give back while building leadership skills.

“We've given out learning packets to younger students, helped serve food at Our Daily Bread, and participated in a variety of volunteer activities,” said Makayla Radar, a senior and current NHS member.

School leaders say the program not only honors academic success but also encourages students to make a lasting impact beyond the classroom.

The following students were inducted: Josiah Phillips, Grace Shoemaker, Angela Fronzaglia, Emanuel Brito-Diaz, Shannon Delph, Madelynn Harshbarger, Marley Watts, Shelby Ingles, Jameson Emerick, Sophie McKinley, Haylee White-Malone, Mya Crowder, Alyssa Guthrie, Ja’Ric Gayden, Shelby Eversole, Evan Ketterer, Noah Talbert, Ashton Taylor, John Thompson, Reggie Jones, Chē’Vohlier Carpenter, Brady Wright and Sa’Niya Williams.
