ELIDA, Ohio (WLIO) — With Valentine’s Day just days away, local florists are working hard to meet the holiday demand.

The FlowerLoft in Elida says Valentine’s Day is their biggest holiday of the year. They have been taking orders and stocking up on flowers to ensure they can meet customer needs. Red roses remain the top choice, and the shop has ordered 5,000 for this year. The key to success, they say, is being well-prepared for the holiday rush.

"We have extra delivery help, extra extra cooler in the back. We probably have 300 to 400 deliveries on Valentine's Day alone. So it keeps us pretty busy," said Brian Joseph, owner of the FlowerLoft in Elida.

Local florists prepare for Valentine’s day rush

With Valentine’s Day just days away, local florists are working hard to meet the holiday demand.

"Valentine's Day is the biggest day of the year. There's lots of excitement. Everybody coming in to choose something unique for their Valentine, and  so it's a lot of fun to help them choose the perfect gift," said Michelle Etzkorn, marketing manager of the FlowerLoft in Elida.

Many florists are extending their hours this week to give customers ample time to find the perfect gift for their loved ones. And remember—Valentine’s Day gifting goes both ways in a relationship.
