LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - The 31st annual Lima Irish Day Parade will feature Patricia Saine as the grand marshal.

96-year-old Patricia was born in Springfield, Ohio, on Sept. 20, 1928, growing up in an entirely Irish Catholic neighborhood. Her father owned Doyle's Tavern in the city. A 1946 Springfield Catholic Central graduate, Patricia immediately began working as a secretary at Wright Field, now Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, during the post-World War II Operation Paperclip. After Operation Paperclip, she met Lima native Jake Saine. The two married in 1950 and raised 11 children, all of whom attended St. Rose and Lima Central Catholic. On Monday, we spoke with Patricia about being this year's grand marshal.
“Why is being selected the Grand Marshal… what does it mean to you personally?” we asked Patricia.
“Well, I’m pleased that they did, but I don’t know why they did it other than I had 11 children,” 2025 Lima Irish Day Parade Grand Marshal Patricia Saine jokes. “At one time, I never missed a parade except when it was freezing cold, and that’s what I’m worried about.”
We asked Patricia, “What sort of things are you going to be excited about on that Saturday on the 15th?”
“To wave at all the people when they see me drive by, and well, naturally, I’m not going to do the driving because I don’t do that anymore,” Patricia adds.
The 2025 Lima Irish Day Parade will take place on Saturday, March 15. The parade starts at noon at the corner of Robb and Main Street and will proceed to Town Square.
