LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - A local teen center is in need of supplies to continue an important activity for the youth they serve.

Art is Power at the SAFY Youth Drop-in Center in Downtown Lima, and they offer art therapy for youth ages 12 to 17 as a way to burn off some energy and express themselves. Now they are in need of art and craft supplies to replenish their art room. SAFY staff says the power of art is seen in the kids creations.

SAFY Youth Drop-in Center looking for art supplies donations

SAFY offers art therapy for youth ages 12 to 17 as a way to burn off some energy and express themselves.

"We see a range of art with our youth that come in - some of them like to make sensory things, they'll do slime or glitter, shake up jars that they can use for when they're feeling anxious, or to self regulate," said Megan Shroyer, a skills coach with SAFY. "Other times, we'll see youth paint and really get their emotions out in that kind of way."

They are looking for donations of canvases, acrylic paint, drawing sets and anything else you can think of that the youth could use to express their artistic abilities. You can drop them off Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
