SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP, ALLEN COUNTY, Ohio (WLIO) — After more than seven months, Shawnee Fire Chief Austin Miller will be returning to his role as the township’s fire chief.

Miller will resume his duties Tuesday, Jan. 13, following a unanimous vote by Shawnee trustees Paul Neff, Kenny Gross and Joe Recker to reinstate him.

Chief Miller also said the civil lawsuit he filed against the township in December will be dropped. He added that he is looking forward to serving Shawnee Township once again.

"It's been a long 7 months. You know, I'm appreciative of my wife for hanging with me through this, my family, especially the fire department, the community- everybody showed up and excited to get back to work. I'm excited to move things forward," says Chief Austin Miller, Shawnee Township Fire Department.

On Dec. 15, the Shawnee trustees at that time — Clark Spieles, Ted Ciminillo and Joe Recker — voted to drop all charges originally held against Miller.
