SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP, Allen County, Ohio (WLIO) - Shawnee Township has added three new members to its fire department, bringing the department to full staffing.
Jacob Spoon, Bryce Lawhun and Caleb Karner were sworn in as the newest members of the Shawnee Township Fire Department.
The hiring process has been underway for the past couple of months. With the addition of the three new employees, the department is now fully staffed with three battalion chiefs and 21 firefighters and paramedics.
“We're one of a few departments in the area that require a level 2 firefighter and paramedic to be able to work here and we were looking at just not those credentials but also a good personality, a good team player fit and these guys are all excellent and fit the bill,” said Paul Neff, a Shawnee Township trustee.
The three new firefighters will continue their education to complete their Level 2 firefighter or paramedic qualifications.
